My Cuban Family with Kuro

BOOK #1

Little black cat Kuro invites children to get to know his Cuban and Salvadoran roots and customs. Come to Kuro’s house to eat pupusas and lechón, listen to the tres Cubano guitar, dance the salsa with Abuela Cristina, and sit for grandma’s and grandpa’s stories about growing up in Cuba and El Salvador.

Traveling to visit faraway relatives can be a fun adventure—especially for a cat named Kuro. I love that Kuro is telling us his story, and I know my grandkids (ages 2, 3 and 4) will enjoy this read-aloud with its lively and relatable illustrations. The simple vocabulary guide and directed questions at the story's end will make for easy conversation about our beautifully diverse world.
